Many years ago there was a business networking event held in my local area called Speed Networking.

I decided to register to promote Cards For Your Clients, my greeting card service business.

For those that aren’t familiar, speed networking is a quick and fast way to put your business in front of a few dozen new prospects in a couple hours.

The Magic Of Custom Greeting Cards

During the event, I ended up opposite from a nice woman that owned a local spa.

I explained my greeting card service business to her and showed her a collection of custom greeting cards I had designed.

One of the cards was a special card (pictured above) I designed as a tribute to my godfather and uncle that had passed away.

In addition to several photos, the special tribute card also included A Sailor’s Prayer because he spent his working life sailing the Great Lakes on ships like the Stewart J. Cort.

The card also featured the eulogy my brother gave at his funeral.

The woman that later became a friend picked up the card, looked at the photos and began to read the special eulogy my brother had given at the funeral.

In the meantime, as she was reading, the whistle sounded and the speed networking event was over.

Despite the event being over, the woman never moved from the table.

She continued to read the card and the special eulogy for my godfather.

She sat there for another couple minutes and finished reading the card.

With tears in her eyes, she told me the tribute card was one of the nicest cards she had ever seen.

She felt she knew my godfather just reading the eulogy and looking at the photos, even though she never met him during his lifetime.

I’ve never forgotten the impact of that card on her.

That memory of her showed me the effect custom greeting cards can have on people.

People Will Never Forget How You Made Them Feel

I started a custom greeting card service business called Cards For Your Clients over a decade ago.

Cards For Your Clients helps businesses keep in touch with their customers and clients by giving them options to send Birthday, Thank You and holiday cards.

I also started another fun greeting card business, Fun Mail For Kids, that helps parents and grandparents send monthly custom greeting cards to the kids they love.

With the many problems facing our world, the words of the great Maya Angelou are more important today than ever before.

Maya Angelo said: “I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Sending personalized greeting cards can make a huge difference in people’s lives.

That’s why it’s something I continue to do to this day.
